Data Sources

Source hierarchy and verification status used by Valheim Companion.

Reviewed 2026-08-21

Valheim Companion prioritizes sources in this order:

  1. Official Iron Gate and Valheim announcements.
  2. Official Valheim support documentation and the dedicated-server manual distributed with the server application.
  3. Current live-game or server behavior reproduced against a recorded version.
  4. Platform-owner documentation for Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, or hosting infrastructure.

Community reports can identify questions but are not treated as confirmed facts without independent verification. Provider marketing is attributed to the provider and rechecked before comparison pages are published.

World and biome guides

Iron Gate does not publish a formal encyclopedia of biomes, creatures, or bosses. For the world guide and its biome pages, which describe the released, stable game rather than unreleased or preview content, this site cross-references at least two independent, established community wiki or guide sources per page and only publishes a claim where those sources agree. Exact numeric values (damage, HP, drop percentages) are omitted rather than reported when sources disagree or a figure could only be confirmed once — those pages describe mechanics qualitatively instead. Each page's review date reflects when it was last checked against current sources; a patch that changes a biome's enemies, resources, or a boss fight will be reflected at the next review rather than assumed unchanged.

Boss fight guides

The boss guide hub and its individual boss pages use the same standard as the world and biome guides above: at least two independent, established sources cross-referenced per page, with a claim published only where those sources agree. This matters more here than elsewhere on the site, since community guides frequently disagree on exact numbers (HP totals, precise damage figures, phase-change health thresholds) — those specific figures are omitted in favor of describing attack patterns, gear recommendations, and fight structure qualitatively, which is where sources reliably converge. Where two sources actively disagreed on a mechanic (for example, whether a particular damage type is effective against a given boss), the page notes the disagreement rather than picking a side.
