Kall Fimbulbringer: Valheim Deep North Boss Guide

How to summon and defeat Kall Fimbulbringer: Malicious Blood, the Aesir Passage, three fight phases, gear, Crown Jewel rewards, and Valheim's ending.

Reviewed 2026-09-19

Kall Fimbulbringer is Valheim's final Forsaken, waiting beyond the Aesir Passage in Deep North. Reaching him means completing the biome's dungeon and invasion chain; winning means surviving both Kall and the returning Aspects of earlier bosses.

Details below are cross-checked against community guides where Iron Gate's release notes do not describe the encounter. Conflicting health totals are identified below.

How to summon

  1. Explore Winding Tunnels for an Intricate Key mould, including drops from Elaking. Look beneath abandoned villages for tunnel entrances.
  2. At a level 4 Black Forge, combine a key mould with 5 Bloodgold to make a key cast. Process it in the Frost Foundry, fueled with Liquid Frost, to obtain the Intricate Key.
  3. Unlock Mörkhalla, descend through the dungeon, and destroy the Malicious Ice at the bottom. This starts a Jotun Invasion elsewhere in the world.
  4. Travel to that invasion and destroy its ice core to obtain one Malicious Blood. Repeat the dungeon/invasion chain until you have three.
  5. Use the Aesir Passage Vegvisir found in Mörkhalla to locate the passage. Offer all three Blood in its Strange Bowl to open the way into The Prison.

The Deep North progression guide covers the workshop and resource preparation behind these steps.

The fight

The gauntlet is phase two, between two rounds against Kall. Clear the summoned Aspects before Kall becomes vulnerable again.

Phase one: chains

Kall opens with overhead slams, sweeping chains, a spinning attack, and a forward rush. Read the windup before committing: sidestep the rush, create distance from the spin, and keep enough stamina to dodge after attacking. Favor short exchanges over a full combo that leaves you standing in the next swing.

Phase two: earlier Forsaken

Kall becomes invulnerable and summons seven Aspects of previous bosses, beginning with Eikthyr. Later opponents can overlap. Stop attacking Kall and work through the Aspects; plan your movement around the active enemies instead of waiting beside the boss for an opening.

Phase three: elemental chains

Kall returns with fire and frost attacks, faster chained strikes, and dangerous tendrils. This is the longest direct damage phase. Save healing and stamina recovery for it, and leave yourself room to retreat when a chain sequence begins.

Health and damage types

Beebom gives 47,000 HP for the encounter; Valheim.tools' boss page gives 52,800 effective damage, including the Aspects. The reported range is therefore 47,000–52,800, with different accounting rather than an established difficulty-setting range. Both describe 10,000 HP in phase one and 30,000 in phase three; 30,000 alone is not the whole fight. One source, Valheim.tools, attributes the higher total to the summoned enemies replacing an invulnerable middle-phase health bar; that reconciliation remains unverified here.

Prep checklist

  • Weapon: prioritize the physical damage on a Deep North hammer or sword. BisectHosting and Valheim.tools both recommend Thunderblood Sledge, Frostfire Sledge, or Thunderblood Greatsword. Their elemental names do not make Kall weak to those elements.
  • Armor: upgrade and repair your Deep North kit before entering. Bring your practiced defensive setup rather than learning a new weapon during the gauntlet.
  • Resistance: bring Fire Resistance Barley Wine and Frost Resistance Mead for the elemental attacks.
  • Sustain: take healing and stamina meads and refresh your best food and Rested bonus before the offering. Budget supplies for all three phases.
  • Recovery: our recommendation is a protected return portal outside the Aesir Passage, with spare food and recovery equipment at home. Check the connection before spending the Blood.

Arena and terrain

The Prison is a separate encounter reached through the passage. Treat the floor as movement space: keep an escape direction open during the chain spin and overlapping Aspect attacks. In a group, agree on the current target so that one nearly defeated Aspect does not linger while everyone changes opponents.

Drops and ending

Take Sacrificial Blood back to the Sacrificial Stones and use it there to trigger the ending. This is the finale step described by BisectHosting and Valheim.tools' progression guide. Kall grants no Forsaken Power.

The Crown Jewel is used to make the Crown of Valheim. Beebom and Valheim.tools agree on 50 armor, 5% extra movement speed, and 20% lower stamina costs for attacking, running, swimming, and sneaking. Exact crafting quantities and the crown's creature-fear behavior are omitted here pending a second independent confirmation.

Common mistakes

  • Spending stamina on Kall while he is immune during the Aspect phase.
  • Building around pierce or spirit damage because it worked earlier in progression.
  • Treating the first depleted health bar as the end and using all recovery supplies too early.
  • Chasing an extra hit into a spin or rapid chain sequence.
  • Confusing Malicious Blood, the summon offering, with Sacrificial Blood, the ending reward.
