Does Valheim PS5 support crossplay?

Yes. Iron Gate says Valheim 1.0 supports crossplay between all platforms: PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and the Windows, Linux, and Mac storefront versions.

Crossplay does not mean every platform can host a dedicated-server process. PS5 players can join a compatible server, while the dedicated application is run on supported computer hardware or through a managed host. A crossplay-enabled server uses the appropriate backend and can expose a join code.

Does PS5 require PlayStation Plus?

The PlayStation Store says PS Plus is required for online play. Online play is optional, so a subscription is not listed as a requirement for a solo world.

Each participant should check their own account, subscription, family settings, and regional storefront terms. Crossplay does not bypass the platform's online-service requirement.

Can PS5 use an Xbox or PC save?

Iron Gate confirms cross-platform save access only between Xbox and the Microsoft Store version on PC. It says there is no broader cross-platform save synchronization.

Therefore, do not expect a Steam, Xbox, or Switch world to appear automatically on PS5. Crossplay lets players meet on the same server; it does not copy ownership of the world or synchronize every local save.

A practical way to continue an established multiplayer world is to keep it on a compatible dedicated server and join from PS5. The world remains server-side, while each player connects from their platform. Back up the world before changing hosts or updating to 1.0.

Can PS5 players use mods?

No. Iron Gate says consoles will not have mod support for Valheim 1.0. It also does not promise Steam Workshop support on PC.

Do not assume a modded PC server remains joinable from PS5 merely because unmodified Valheim supports crossplay. Some server-side mods may change networking or require matching client files. For a mixed-platform launch group, begin with an unmodified server.
