How Valheim Companion handles hosting data, analytics consent, browser storage, and affiliate links.

Reviewed 2026-09-04

Valheim Companion does not provide accounts, comments, uploads, or advertising. It does contain a small number of clearly marked affiliate links to server hosting providers — see Affiliate links below.

The hosting provider may process standard request information needed to deliver and secure the site, such as IP address, requested URL, timestamp, user agent, and diagnostic logs, under its own infrastructure policies.

The site also uses Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless, aggregate page-view measurement that does not use Analytics-style identifiers and is not affected by the Analytics choice described below.

Valheim Companion uses Google Analytics 4 with Advanced Consent Mode. Your country, detected from your network location, determines the starting state:

  • Visitors in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland start with Analytics and advertising storage denied. Analytics storage only turns on after you select Allow analytics.
  • Visitors elsewhere start with Analytics storage granted by default, an opt-out model consistent with guidance outside that region. Advertising storage stays denied everywhere regardless of location. You can select Reject analytics at any time to turn Analytics storage off.

Before analytics storage is granted, or after it is rejected, Google may still receive consent-state and cookieless measurement requests. These requests do not read or write Analytics cookies.

Cookieless measurements may include the current page address, timestamp, referrer, browser-provided user agent, consent state, and a random number generated for the page load. Google describes this behavior in its Consent Mode overview.

Advertising storage, advertising user data, and advertising personalization remain disabled regardless of the visitor's Analytics choice.

When Analytics is allowed, Google Analytics may process page addresses, page titles, referral information, approximate location, and browser or device information. It may set first-party cookies beginning with _ga to distinguish visits and sessions. The site does not send account details, form content, server credentials, or other intentionally identifying information to Analytics.

The Analytics destination is G-MZJQXDQC4B. Google describes its default collection in Google Analytics data collection and explains its handling of data from partner sites in Google's privacy information.

The choice is stored in the browser under the local-storage key valheim-companion:analytics-consent:v1. This value records only granted or denied and is not transmitted to Valheim Companion.

Use Analytics choices in the site footer to change or withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent prevents further Analytics-cookie storage and attempts to remove Google Analytics cookies for this site. Consent-aware cookieless measurements may continue as described above.

The server hosting comparison contains affiliate links to DatHost, Shockbyte, Supercraft, Nitrado, GPORTAL, Apex Hosting, and Sparked Host. If you click one of these links and buy hosting, this site may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Any link marked rel="sponsored" is an affiliate link — you can confirm this in your browser's developer tools.

Clicking one of these links may cause the destination site to set its own tracking cookie so it can attribute a resulting purchase back to this site. Valheim Companion does not see your account details, payment information, or purchase history — the provider only reports that a referred purchase occurred.

The comparison is not ranked by affiliate payout; each host is recommended where the editorial policy considers it to genuinely win. BisectHosting is listed on that page without an affiliate link because their referral program pays in store credit rather than cash.

This policy will be updated before enabling contact forms, personalization, advertising, or other data-processing features beyond what is described above. The review date at the top identifies the current version.
