Valheim Mistlands Guide: Creatures, Eitr, and The Queen

Mistlands biome guide for Valheim — Seekers, Dvergr, Black Cores, Eitr crafting, and how to reach The Queen.

Reviewed 2026-08-19

Mistlands is Valheim's sixth biome, permanently shrouded in disorienting mist and built around unlocking the game's magic system. This guide covers what lives here, how Eitr crafting works, and how to beat the sixth boss, The Queen. See how this site sources world guides.

Where Mistlands fits

Mistlands only generates in unexplored parts of the map and becomes accessible after defeating Yagluth in Plains — most resources can be gathered beforehand, but Wisp-based items (the Mistwalker sword and Wisplight) require Yagluth's defeat. Mistlands unlocks Eitr and Mage-tier gear and leads into Ashlands, the next biome.

Boss: The Queen

The Queen resides in the Infested Citadel, beneath claw-shaped rock formations marked by two Wisp Lanterns.

  • Summon: on first entry, no sacrifice is needed — she's already present. Opening the Citadel requires a Sealbreaker, crafted at the Galdr Table from 9 Sealbreaker Fragments found in Infested Mines. To re-fight her later, sacrifice 3 Seeker Soldier trophies.
  • Drops: 5 Majestic Carapace and a Queen Trophy.
  • Why it matters: mounting the trophy grants a Forsaken Power boosting mining damage and Eitr regeneration. Defeating her is the milestone that signals readiness for Ashlands.

Building and survival tips

  • The mist drastically limits visibility across jagged, vertical terrain — the Wisplight, Wisp Torch, and Mistwalker sword each temporarily clear it in a radius.
  • Hidden cliff edges and narrow bridges over deep chasms make fall damage a real threat; a Feather Cape helps.
  • Enemies often detect players before players detect them due to the mist — defensive building (raised platforms, chokepoints) around a base is recommended.
  • Dvergr settlements are safe as long as you don't attack them or damage their structures.

Points of interest

Infested Mines (underground dungeons and the source of Black Cores, Sealbreaker Fragments, and Royal Jelly, guarded by Seekers and Ticks), Dvergr settlements built from marble and copper, giant skeleton remains associated with nighttime Tick spawns, and the Infested Citadel where The Queen is fought.
