Valheim 1.0.16 Patch Notes: Deep North Terrain and Achievement Fixes
Valheim 1.0.16 explained: persistent Deep North terrain, raid spawns, achievements, Kall arena spawns, snow, crashes, and console fixes.
Reviewed 2026-10-25
Valheim 1.0.16 released on September 25, 2026. It repaired Deep North terrain persistence, excessive enemy spawning, three achievement problems, and several biome-specific visual and stability issues. Iron Gate said crossplay remained available during the staggered rollout.
Progression and achievement fixes
- Fixed Child of Odin and Comfort is King failing to unlock in some cases.
- Removed the unobtainable Blue Mushroom from The Gourmet requirements.
- Fixed excessive enemy spawning, especially during raids.
- Corrected some Kall-fight spawns appearing outside the intended arena or rendering incorrectly.
Players pursuing the affected achievements should update before repeating their requirements. If an achievement still does not unlock, confirm that the world and character are eligible and review the achievement and cheat guide.
Deep North terrain repairs
The patch fixed player-made Deep North terrain changes reverting after an area unloaded. Existing seams may still need a one-time repair by pickaxing, using the hoe, or walking over snow. It also prevented distant rolling snowballs from causing terrain seams or crashes and made Deep North tree logs behave more consistently on snow.
Create a world backup before repairing a valuable base. Test the affected area, leave until it unloads, return, and verify that the correction persists.
Other notable changes
Placeable rocks no longer take rain damage, low graphics now disables tessellation, item variants display correctly on stands, and an online Player List error was fixed. Motion-control activation was corrected on PS5 and Switch 2, while the Switch 2 received a close-range banding fix. Mac App Store users regained backup restoration through Manage Saves.
